Discover Golf : February 2015
Located at the northern tip of King Island overlooking Victoria Cove and Cape Farewell, the Mike DeVries-designed Cape Wickham is a great variety of landforms and spectacular ocean scenery. Built on 303 acres of coastal land, this true links track covers land, which is gently undulating and interspersed with giant sand dunes and ridges. Occasional limestone outcrops create further interest. All 18 holes enjoy views of Bass Strait. The layout boasts eight holes that are adjacent to Bass Strait, two other holes have greens on the coastline and three other holes have tees beside the ocean. The opening hole (pictured this page) is simply beautiful. Despite only playing 340 metres from the back tee, and with a generous fairway within which to hit, golfer’s knees will be no doubt be knocking as they prepare to play their tee shot. Cape Wickham Links is managed by The Dunes Golf Links, a popular 27-hole course on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. 11 discovergolf.com.au Image Credit: Darius Oliver.
